Getting started
What is Orty?
Orty is a Windows desktop app for freelance video editors. Drop in a prospect's profile screenshot and Orty scores how well their content fits your editing style on a 1–10 scale, explains the reasoning, drafts a personalized cold email quoting your rate card, and files the lead into a local CRM pipeline.
Who is Orty for?
Freelance video editors who want more clients — especially short-form editors reaching out to fitness, gaming, food, podcast, and brand channels. If you send (or should be sending) personalized outreach to creators and brands, Orty is built for you.
Is Orty free?
Yes — there's a real Free tier, not a trial: 5 ratings/day, 5 Co-Pilot messages/day, the full CRM, and 1 portfolio. Free forever, your keys, your data. Pro ($29 one-time) removes the caps — everything unlimited.
What's the difference between Free and Pro?
Free: 5 ratings/day · 5 Co-Pilot messages/day · full CRM · 1 portfolio. Pro ($29 one-time): everything unlimited — batch triage, long-form video audits, in-app email sending, AI profile generation, unlimited portfolios.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Orty is a Windows desktop app — download the installer, open it, and it opens with a worked demo: screenshot → score → ready-to-send email. Paste one free Gemini API key when you're ready to analyze your own leads; Orty shows you where. No terminal, no Python, no package manager.
Does Orty work on Mac?
Not yet. Orty is currently Windows 10/11 only (~57 MB installer). macOS is on the roadmap but there is no release date to promise yet — this page and the changelog are updated as soon as that changes.
AI keys & costs
Can I use my own AI API key?
Yes — that's how Orty works by design (BYOK). You start with one free Gemini key (vision — used for lead scoring); Orty shows you exactly where to paste it. Groq comes later, only if you use Co-Pilot, and Pro also supports OpenRouter, Cerebras, Together AI, Mistral, and OpenAI. Orty never marks up AI usage — you pay the provider directly (usually nothing).
Which AI keys do I need?
One to start: a free Gemini key — required for lead rating because it reads screenshots. Orty shows you exactly where to paste it. Groq comes later, only if you use Co-Pilot for chat replies. Setup takes about two minutes.
How much does the AI cost to run?
Usually zero. Groq's free tier covers roughly 1,000 generations/day and Gemini's free vision tier covers typical rating volume. Heavy users can plug in paid keys from any of the 6 supported providers — Orty charges nothing on top.
Can I use Orty offline?
Mostly. Your CRM, notes, settings, diagnostics, goals, and exports live entirely on your machine and work offline. The two things that need internet are lead rating (Gemini reads the screenshot) and Co-Pilot drafting (your chat provider) — both run only when you trigger them.
Privacy & your data
Does Orty store my data in the cloud?
No — Orty is local-first. Leads, emails, drafts, sessions, and the entire CRM live in your user profile folder on your machine. There is no cloud sync, no account, and no server holding your data.
Do my screenshots stay on my computer?
Yes. Screenshots you drop into Orty stay local. When you rate a lead, the screenshot is sent directly from your machine to Google's Gemini API using your own key so it can be read — it isn't routed through any Orty server, because there isn't one.
Does Orty scrape YouTube or social profiles?
No scraping. Orty analyzes only what you give it — screenshots, bios, links, or a public YouTube URL you paste in for a Long Form audit. It never crawls profiles, harvests emails, or monitors accounts behind your back.
Does Orty automate outreach or send spam?
No automation. Orty helps you draft and (on Pro) send individual emails you review and control — one click, one recipient, with a CAN-SPAM-compliant footer added automatically. There is no bulk blasting, no auto-follow-up bots, and no inbox rotation, by design.
What does Orty's telemetry collect?
Nothing unless you opt in — the telemetry toggle is off by default in Trust Settings. Enabled, it sends only anonymous, locally-derived stats like counts of ratings and errors. Never your leads, drafts, prompts, or screenshots. You can verify everything anytime via Trust Settings → View My Data.
Billing & support
Is this a subscription?
No. Pro is $29 one-time, yours forever — including every beta update. No recurring fees. A Free tier is available if you want to start without paying.
Will the beta price go up?
Yes, after beta. Pro is $29 while Orty is in beta, and everyone who buys at that price keeps it for life — future increases won't affect existing licenses.
What's the refund policy?
7 days, no questions asked. If Orty isn't for you, email within 7 days of purchase and you'll get a refund — no forms, no interrogation.
How is Orty different from ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a general chat box: it doesn't know your editing style, it can't see a prospect's profile unless you paste it, and it will happily invent prices you never quoted. Orty scores fit against your saved portfolio, quotes only your rate card, files every lead into a pipeline, tracks replies, and diagnoses why outreach stalls — all locally.
What if I need help?
Email getorty@gmail.com — you're talking to the founder, not a ticket queue. Replies usually land within a few hours, always within a day.
